Support request with team editing experiment project[edit]

Dear tech ambassadors, instead of spamming the Village Pump of each Wikipedia about my tiny project proposal for researching team editing (see here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:IdeaLab/Research_team_editing), I have decided to leave to your own discretion if the matter is relevant enough to inform a wider audience already. I would appreciate if you could appraise if the Wikipedia community you are more familiar with could have interest in testing group editing "on their own grounds" and with their own guidance. In a nutshell: it consists in editing pages as a group instead of as an individual. This social experiment might involve redefining some aspects of the workflow we are all used to, with the hope of creating a more friendly and collaborative environment since editing under a group umbrella creates less social exposure than traditional "individual editing". I send you this message also as a proof that the Inspire Campaign is already gearing up. As said I would appreciate of *you* just a comment on the talk page/endorsement of my project noting your general perception about the idea. Nothing else. Your contribution helps to shape the future! (which I hope it will be very bright, with colors, and Wikipedia everywhere) Regards from User:Micru on meta.

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open![edit]

Scale of justice 2.svgHello, The Anome. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.

NHRP detaggables[edit]

So, I ended up here: User:The Anome/NHRP detaggables because of this redirect, Skeleton Cave Massacre Site. I recently created Skeleton Cave (Arizona), and when I was linking other pages to the article, I found the detaggables page. In scanning your list, I came across Work, John, House and Mill Site which I then linked to John Work House and Mill Site which has existed since 2006.

It occurred to me that there may be a number of pages already in existence, but since they are not formatted the same as what's on this page, they aren't being identified as being done. I'm trying to think on how to solve this problem. --evrik (talk)

username block[edit]

Hi Anome, I saw you just blocked Cervix service. This is a person who joined Wikipedia to improve articles related to women's health, anatomy, reproductive health, family planning, etc. They are not selling a service or trolling. Could you elaborate on the block a bit more? Is it that any anatomy is inappropriate in a username? Thanks. --Ryan (Wiki Ed) (talk) 22:12, 2 June 2020 (UTC)

It sounds a lot like trolling to me, but I take your point. I will unblock it and notify them about the concern about the name. -- The Anome (talk) 22:16, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
Sorry, left part out. The person is participating in a program I'm involved with, so I can confirm they are not a troll. Don't know if this was sufficiently implied by my previous message. Ryan (Wiki Ed) (talk) 22:37, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
I'm happy to un-warn them, then. But I hope you can see the username is still quite unfortunate. -- The Anome (talk) 23:00, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
Thanks. I mean, I can see where it might make sense to disallow reproductive system references or certain parts of human anatomy in usernames, but I wanted to be clear that's the case so I could provide advice to the person accordingly. I'm not all that up on the finer points of the username policy in that regard. It just seems like context should matter, and someone using an anatomical term directly related to their scientific interest in contributing to Wikipedia seems like it's at least on the ok side of the gray area. YMMV. :) Thanks. Ryan (Wiki Ed) (talk) 02:00, 3 June 2020 (UTC)

Unblock request[edit]

I am denied to edit from my office computer because of an IP block. Please give me a way to edit from my office computer. I am not sure whether IP block exemption works in this case. ~SS49~ {talk} 12:51, 3 June 2020 (UTC)

@SS49: IP block exemption should work for this. You can find out how to request it at Wikipedia:IP block exemption. -- The Anome (talk) 13:09, 3 June 2020 (UTC)
Thanks The Anome. I requested this at Wikipedia:Unblock Ticket Request System. I unintentionally made IP address public in earlier edit in this thread. Please make it invisible by deleting the revision or by any means. Thanks again. ~SS49~ {talk} 13:23, 3 June 2020 (UTC)
Hi The Anome! My request is not responded yet. Please grant IP block exemption privilege. Thanks! ~SS49~ {talk} 03:28, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
Granted for the length of time needed. You shouldn't need it indefinitely, so I've set the IP block exemption to expire after the IP block expires. -- The Anome (talk) 10:36, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
Thank you so much. ~SS49~ {talk} 10:45, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
